Requisitioned Railway Materials
With reference to paragraphs 3
savingran concerning Item 3 of the Kowloon
6 of your
Canton Railway
(British Section) Claim, Lieutenant Colonel R.D. Walker has now been consulted about the preparation of the 600
wagons involved in this item. I enclose for your information a copy of a letter which has been received from
Lieutenant Colonel Walker, from which you will see that he supports your view that materials were supplied in Hong Kong to make good the wagons.
3.
In paragraph (4) of nis letter
Lieutenant Colonel Walker mentions various possible sources in Ilong Kong of evidence about the 600 wagons. I should be grateful if you would investigate these sources and inform me of any fresh evidence which comes to light. This subject will, unless a satisfactory settlement is reached on the basis of the information available, be for discussion at the forthcoming financial conference. It is therefore desirable that all relevant information may be as complete as possible before the conference starts.
